World top golfer Rory McIlroy said LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman must step down immediately, since golf's tour companies require the services of an "adult present" to end the impasse in their fight.
LIV Golf has attracted certain of the U.S.-based top players on the PGA Tour by offering huge sums of money which has led to a simmering conflict within the game. Players participating on the Breakaway Series have been banned out of playing on PGA Tour.LIV has filed an action accusing the PGA Tour of antitrust violations. In response, the PGA Tour has filed a counterclaim.
The attempts of Europe's DP World Tour to suspend players have failed, with LIV golfers still being able to play in its events, pending an appeal to the courts in the coming year.In a press conference prior to taking part in the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai, McIlroy said that "nothing could take place" for as long as litigations are ongoing. You're only limited by the things you can do. In my opinion, whatever transpires with these two events there are a few items I'd love to see happen on the LIV side that need to be done,McIlroy said.
Greg must go. He has to leave stage left. He's done his job, but it's the right time to tell people"look you've got this on the ground, but nobody is going to discuss it without an adult present there to actually attempt to fix fences. If these two events occur and then something happens, then it's possible for things to take place. However, at the moment there's no way to move forward as there's no alternative. It's possible that something happens but who knows.
